Top 10 Drug Induced Movies You Must Watch Before You Die
Good morning folks! Before I take my break from blogging to concentrate on my finals before graduation, I'd like to share a post on what I believe is the "Top 10 Drug Induced Movies You Must Watch Before You Die". The movies that made my list range from comedy to drama. Each one of these movies are ones that I could watch over and over. Some are pretty old and others are a little more recent but all in all they fall under my list of classics. So without further ado I bring to you the best of the best.

1. Up In Smoke - 1978
Comedy legends Cheech & Chong starred in this classic comedy that in my opinion, started the whole trend of Marijuana specific films. Who else could have brought you the quarter pounder joint and a van made entirely out of weed?

2. Scarface - 1983
Al Pacino gives a stellar performance as Tony Montana in Scarface. Tony is shipped from Cuba to America and goes from being a refugee stuck in a camp to a high powered cocaine drug lord. The story is a rise and fall of a classic character that lives on in cinema and shows what happens when you try and live your own version of the american dream.

3. Blow - 2001
This movie includes an all-star cast and is lead by Johnny Depp. Based on the true story of George Jung, the movie shows another rise and fall of a man seeking out the american dream. As many times as I've seen this movie, I always hope for a different outcome in the end. You begin to feel bad for George and you want him to succeed but in the end he falls.

4. The Basketball Diaries - 1995
Leonardo Di Caprio plays Jim Carroll in this movie based on Jim's life. At the age of 13 Jim was well on his way to becoming a full blown heroin addict. He documented what would later be known as, "The Basketball Diaries" and self published his book turning him into a known and famous author by age 16. I can't even begin to tell you what this person went through, but it's a must see.

5. 54 - 1998
54 is based on Studio 54, a real nightclub in NYC from the 70's. The nightclub was host to celebrities, the outrageous, and the fabulous. The story is told through the eyes of an employee and shows how the club was eventually shut down due to drugs and trouble with the IRS.

6. Go - 1999
From the director of Swingers comes a movie dubbed as, "The child of Pulp Fiction". The movie includes different stories that involve, Las Vegas, a rave, drug dealers, a strip club, a wedding, and Ecstasy. The movie is insane and fun for all.

7. Dazed and Confused - 1993
Dazed and Confused is an all out good time. The story is based in the late 70's and is at the end of the school year. New freshman are running for their lives from those who are now seniors and everyone is trying to find something to do since the party of the year has been crushed by the hosts parents. I showed this movie to my dad once and he remembered how hazing was part of high school back then. Ah the memories.

8. Detroit Rock City - 1999
If you have ever wanted to watch a movie that included the music of KISS and the stoners of the 70's then this is your movie. In this movie, 4 teenagers try to scam their way into a KISS concert after one mom torches their tickets. The incident leads them on a crazy and insane adventure that they'll never forget.

9. Half Baked - 1998
Following the Marijuana laced films that Cheech & Chong brought to the table comes Half Baked. The movie follows four childhood friends who live in NYC and have a mutual love for weed. When one of them is sent to prison for murdering a police horse, the remaining three are left with having to raise bail money. Now, the charge sounds odd but that's how this comedy is. The police horse is fed by Kenny while out on a munchie run but what he doesn't know is that the horse is a diabetic. The horse goes into shock and dies on the sidewalk. It's all goofy fun and a must see.

10. Friday - 1995
Two friends, Craig and Smokey, experience a wild Friday by dealing with a bully, an angry drug dealer named Big Worm and other crazy characters. The movie is definitely a classic and is one that I believe was the way that Ice Cube made it out into the mainstream of film.
