Luz Ponce’ was born and raised Miami, FL. She has an AA Degree in Psychology and is currently working on her BS Degree in Supervision and Management.
Luz began working for the City of Miami Police Department on May 21, 2001 as an Emergency Dispatcher (ED). The City of Miami Police has separate Call Taking and Dispatching, but she was cross trained and performed both functions depending on where she was needed. On November 3, 2014, Luz was promoted to Emergency Dispatcher Supervisor (EDS) and on February 16, 2016, she was assigned as the Administrative Supervisor.
On October 27, 2019, Luz was officially promoted to Communications Center Administrator. She currently oversees the department’s Payroll, Budget, Equipment, CALEA Accreditation, Records Requests, Training Unit, and Alpha Shift. She fell in love with her job on her very first day of work, and continues to feel the same until this day.
